I found this about gastric band operations. It is worthwhile considering if you are interested in a quick fix weight loss solution.

I have seen lots of people whose gastric band, or gastric bypass surgery has ended up worse than the original weight problem. There are numerous reasons for this and this article above addresses some. Here are some stories I have personally come across:

  1. The gastric band was faulty and needed removal. They couldn’t put replace it until the scar tissue cleared. In the few months between times the weight flowed back on as the person went back to eating as she did previously. This proved that the band was only masking a bigger problem. This person was using eating to hide something else she didn’t want to face.
  2. After the op another person still ate the same amount of food and since the stomach couldn’t take that that quantity the food mounted up in the oesophagus, resulting in constant vomiting. In fact so much so that she had to factor in vomit time after food.
  3. People melting chocolate and other goodies just so they would go easily through the band, thus negating any benefit.
  4. No hospital emotional preparation – either before or after the surgery. People wished afterwards that they hadn’t had it done.
  5. A lot of money spent for quick weight loss but more money needed for surgery to take up all the loose skin, so be prepared for more than one lot of surgery.

So think carefully about quick fix weight loss. It may not be as quick fix as you would like it.

New year’s resolutions: weight loss is the celebrity!

January 6, 2013

Yes, weight loss has surely topped the list of New Year’s resolutions yet again!  And, coming in at No.2 is ‘To stay fit and healthy’. It is true that there are many, many of us who are not that happy with the way we look and feel. There is room for improvement.

Now, of all those who decide to do something about getting in shape 30% will lose their motivation in the first two weeks, 46% will make it to the 6 month mark in June, and only 12% will achieve their goal. Please make sure you are in that 12%.

Please spend your money wisely. In short do not diet, do not take to shakes or do anything rash. All you need to do is cut back on the rubbish food you eat and drink, cut back totally on sugar, eat portions of food to reflect the amount of exercise you are doing and get out and walk. This will get your metabolism stimulated, get your food assimilated properly and start the process of turning fat into muscle.

While you can do this yourself quite simply and it will make a huge difference, in many cases there are other reasons for weight gain. Understanding these reasons will be a topic for my next blog.

Well, here is 2013! Let’s get on track for success.

January 2, 2013

Our life is like a road. Think of it as a motorway with lots of side roads. Sometimes everything is going well and we are moving fast in the right direction. However, sometimes we get side tracked and end up on another road, and other times it seems like we are way off course, have hit a bumpy road, or even a road block

So, thinking of 2012, were you on a motorway? Was your journey planned or did it seem like a pretty aimless year?  For instance if you had plotted it into your Sat Nav are you in a better place now than where you were last January?

Let’s make 2013 even better. There will be many journeys this year and wouldn’t it be great if each one were taking you someplace exciting. Are you ready to put your foot to the floor for some adventure? And, thinking of yourself as that vehicle; are you a sleek racing car; or an older model with some rust, some dints, very little power, and perhaps no spare in the boot; or maybe you are a younger model that’s been a bit thrashed with the wrong fuel and little attention?

images-27It’s not much use expecting a great road ahead if the car hasn’t the power and resources to travel it!  Not forgetting that while a car can be easily replaced, your body can’t. You are stuck with it for your entire life.

You can, however, get it fixed.

Maybe you haven’t been firing on all cylinders and an energy tune up would help. That will make a huge difference immediately. Then you can learn to recharge your batteries with decent sleep. Things holding you back like smoking, frustration, stress, pain, guilt and anger can be found and freed. Fear, insecurity, anxiety and worries can be flushed away. Overweight, lethargy, lack of confidence, even depression, can also be cleared.

Let’s get rid of the blockages, the potholes and obstacles in the way. Let’s open and smooth your road ahead, let it become clearer, far easier to travel. Be open to new opportunities along the way. Success is within us all.

images-26Make 2013 a far better year, perhaps a brilliant year, starting with a decent ‘tune up’, an MOT, and then some help to programme your mind and body for success. Get yourself on the right road, then put your foot down, enjoy the scenery, and feel the wind through your hair.

Gentle, supportive, assistance to deal with all New Years Resolutions so you are free to have an amazing year.  In person or on Skype.

Worrying about weight prior to Christmas?

December 16, 2012

Christmas time is party time there is no denying this. All the work parties, the catchup with friends dinner parties, the club parties, the pre-christmas parties, the post-christmas parties, New Years eve parties, and so it goes on.  Food and drink and drink and food and more of the images-32same, and so it goes on!

Now people who are worried about their weight do worry at this time of the year. They know that food and drink is about and it smells so good, it looks so good, and it tastes so good. How can they take care and not over do it?  Will they be miserable and stay at home?  Or will they got out  have fun, ignore the consequences, and go into repair damage afterwards in January?

Well, that’s their choice. Whatever happens Christmas time should be fun. The main fun about Christmas is catching up with friends and partying. That doesn’t have to mean lots of food and drink. Honestly, who wants to wake up the next day not remembering what happened and feeling ill and awful? Who wants to waste half a day in bed getting over it?  This should be a fun time. Go out and have fun. Don’t deny yourself food or drink but on the other hand just be aware of it, remember your limits, and don’t over do it.  This way you can enjoy everything and everybody, every time.

If you need any help call me. If you want to join my weight loss program in January please call me and book in – 07962 811907.

Great news on weight loss!

December 9, 2012

My extremely supportive weight loss program started in September. After three months those first people are now finishing and the results are really lovely.

Everyone who comes to me for weight loss has been conscious of their figure all their life and tried just about every diet imaginable. They say ‘You are my last resort. If this doesn’t work I don’t know what I’ll do’  This is pretty scary stuff, but what a challenge!

During this time we have learned many things.

  • That food shouldn’t be the total focus of weight loss. A many pronged approach is mandatory.
  • That weight gain is not necessarily genetic.
  • That there is always something blocking weight loss when diets haven’t worked, and no ordinary diet program looks at this.
  • That a blockage may even be something that someone said years ago that, ‘just stuck’ like;  ‘You look just like your mother’, or  ‘You’ll get sick if you are too thin’ or ‘ You’ll never change’.Things that hit a spot and keep subliminally repeating throughout your life.
  • Often blockages are something that happened that someone has never ever told anyone, they have been too ashamed to. These need to be gently and safely cleared and this doesn’t take long, perhaps only 20 minutes, and what a relief!
  • That weight loss happens in it’s own time. A mindset change has to happen first.
  • That having a wonderful figure isn’t the most important thing in this world. It’s the way you feel about yourself that matters.
  • That eating is just eating. You need to eat to survive. Your thoughts do not need to be constantly on the subject of food.

I could go on and on. Suffice to say that diets don’t work for many, many reasons and every single person is different. Finding what works for you is the key. It is an unravelling process but the results can be amazing and life changing. If you want to lose weight you need to find someone professional who is prepared to work with you on this and my program is really proving itself now.

6 easy ways to get slimmer and fitter for free

September 12, 2012

Weren’t the Olympics amazing?  and the Paralympics were an eye opener. What challenges these people had to get over to attend the Games and what achievements they had.

I suspect they may have spurred you on to look a bit closer at your own waistline and fitness levels

So what can YOU do about getting slimmer and fitter?

1. Walking or cycling is easy enough. It is pleasant to get out in the fresh air and good for your muscle tone and health. If you exercise for half an hour 4 times every week in six months you will have made a huge difference to your body shape and mind clarity.

2. Drink water often. It is free, and if you put a slice of lemon, lime or orange in it you will enjoy the taste and help your digestion.

3. Cut back, or eliminate all fizzy drinks. The sugar in them is seriously and frighteningly fattening.

4. Eat only what you need. Many people eat way too much ‘rubbish’ food. Say, “No thank you, I don’t need that,” more often. It is surprisingly easy to say No, and surprisingly liberating.

5. Say “Yes,” more often. Say “Yes” to fruit, veges and salads. Say “Yes” to having a buddy to do all this with. Know that yes is an easy word to say when you think of your health and fitness. Say “Yes, I can do this!”.

6. Be more aware of your conversations. No-one else wants to hear your excuses. If you want to be slimmer and fitter then do it. Show others you are capable of it. Actions do speak louder than words, and best of all, you benefit. Yes!

Put these 6 easy steps into place and you will not only slim down and feel more energized but you will also save money.

Now, if you have a problem with motivation there may well be a blockage or two preventing your progress. It is quite likely that these have unconsciously stopped, or sidetracked, you in the past. Maybe a helpful coach with good ideas and techniques to clear these would spur you on?

My fully supportive 3 month ‘Bolt to success’ weight loss program recognizes that people want real help to succeed. It includes: 5 hours of very personal appointments; my 5 successful hypnotic healthy mindset audios; clear energizing meridian ‘tapping’ videos; helpful tips and techniques, all wrapped up into a constructive, caring package with unlimited support. There’s even a free phone consultation so that when you start we have covered the basics and can move on immediately the first session begins.

This is a motivational mindset change and it works. Like Miranda you could be 2 months on and 2 stone gone.
